But the cold is the least of his worries when a beast starts prowling outsi...。故事发生在沦陷时期的东北某地。小桃（殷桃 饰）随母改嫁来到继父家，异姐大兰子（颜丙燕 饰）刁蛮不讲理，异兄吴全礼（赵毅 饰）是个二流子，母女俩忍气吞生地生活着。不久，小桃被日军军官雇去做女佣，结识了忠厚善良的良子（林熙越 饰），小桃对他充满爱意，但天不遂人愿，俩人始终没走到一起。大兰子投机钻营、自私险恶，不只一次地陷害小桃。而吴全礼则有奶就是娘，平日里鸡零狗碎，和一个落魄的妓女苟且在一起。良子后来参加了共产党，而小桃则承担起抚养四个与自己没有血缘关系的孩子，在她身上折射出中国妇女宽厚、善良与坚韧的品格。。
