数百年前，吸血鬼韦恩·格雷茨基（Adam Johnson 饰）与美丽的人类女孩玛丽（Julie Gonzalo 饰）相恋，但却不慎咬死对方，他从此也失去吸血的能力。当代社会，格雷茨基化身历史学教师在霍桑大学任教，他风趣幽默，举止怪异，得到学生们的喜爱，只有列文校长（Gary Cole 饰）知道他的秘密，并尝试为他做心理辅导。这一日，美丽的少女克莉丝（Julie Gonzalo 饰）出现在格雷茨基面前，令这个吸血鬼找回久违的能力。原来克莉丝与玛丽长得一模一样，而她真正的身份更令格雷茨基震惊。 干柴烈火之后，是一发不可收拾的吸血鬼大事件。克莉丝的青梅竹马弗雷德（Maclain Nelson 饰）及其好友汤姆（Matt Mattson 饰），以及灰头土脸的格雷茨基必须尽快收拾血腥残局……。繁华大都会日本东京，迎来了一年一度的愚人节。有交流障碍的医院清洁工新田步（户田惠梨香 饰）鼓起勇气打电话给外科医生牧野亘（松坂桃李 饰），宣布自己已经怀孕的事实。谁知对方矢口否认孩子和自己相关，更当成一个恶劣的玩笑，之后继续招蜂引蝶。新田一气之下，杀到了牧野所在的意大利餐厅，结果引发了难以收场的大混乱。那边厢，自称皇族的樱小路夫妇（里见浩太朗 & 富司纯子 饰）在出租车司机（泷藤贤一 饰）的带领下游览东京，度过他们难得的二人时光。另一头的街上，黑道大哥宇田川勇司（寺岛进 饰）带着小弟（高桥努 饰）劫走了小学生江藤理香（浜辺美波 饰），却并不着急索要赎金。警察局一方，小野刑警（高岛政伸 饰）则与神秘的占卜婆婆（りりィ 饰）相周旋。 短暂的一天里，许多人的命运发生翻天覆地的改变……。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
