该剧讲述了田教授家的众多亲戚隔三差五地登门造访，使田家平静的生活中激起了片片涟漪，引发了一连串耐人寻味的悲喜故事。。妇产科男医生丁浩和罗嘉来到民政局婚姻登记处，准备结婚。他们想一切从简，登记以后两家人一起吃个饭庆祝一下。然后就出去度蜜月，尽量减少婚姻过程的繁琐。不料，这天来登记的人特别多，新人们都想赶在这个好日子结婚。在排队过程中，发生了一系列的偶然事件，最终丁浩和罗嘉没能结成婚。这本来是小事一桩，不过是耽误了时间，第二天还可以再去结婚登记。可是，两家人之间却发生了矛盾。本来准备庆贺的简单聚会也不欢而散...。Akerman's Toute une nuit is a collection of vignettes depicting the fancies and dramatic moments of a number of people throughout one summer night.
